Three Minute Mod: Fixing a Fasttech DIY Stainless Steel Clip

I bought these clips from Fasttech a while back in anticipation of putting them on a few of my lights, mostly for the XIAOZHI when it arrived. I first tried it on a zoomie EDC that I have and it's OK. One thing that bugged me was the length of the raised end. It's too long and pokes into my hand when I'm holding the light. It also tends to get caught on stuff when clipped on my pocket. So I finally decided to fix it. About three minutes with a Dremel and voila! Much better.

I used a standard glass fiber reinforced cutoff disc, went slow on the cut, shaped it the way I wanted, then smoothed out the edges.

That's it! Nice and easy, and makes this clip much more useable. It looks like a minor change but it makes a big difference.

Cool mod , relic38 . I may do this myself .

Lovin' my clipped XIAOZHI !

Very sweet mod. Thank you for sharing.

Looks 100 times better! Great job.

Are those self tapping screws? Thx for sharing btw

The clip came with machined bolts & nuts, I have one on my Convoy S2, remember to dab a tiny blue threadlock.

Thanks for the great idea relic, am sure do the same

Yeah. the tiny nuts and bolts can be finnicky if the switch boot is too close to the rim of the tail.
The loctite is a good idea too. I’ll probably have to add that

Looks much better than the original. Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if some nail polish and acid might make these a little more interesting .

I like the shorter clip

They weren't as tough as I expected .fixing them seems appropriate... thanks for the idea Relic

Great idea. It does seem too long stock. Kind of strange.

Perhaps some acid etching… J)

I’ve never messed around with stainless steel other than the brushed look and polished look. What acid do you need for SS etching?

Thanks for posting the tip relic38.
This is a must do for me.
