Hi! I have been looking at this type of light, to buy and use as a thrower host. Do you guys think it would be any good? I was thinking xpl-hI, or xhp50. I think it would be nice, big reflector, multi cell capability, and a handle.
So I got one of those for $5 sale/promo code, and it is pretty bad even for 5 bucks. It has zero heat transfer capacity, and definitely would not support high power emitters unless you are planning to do some of your own machine work to make a significant heatsink/shelf.

I believe I have the same host and it only has a thin plate that’s connected to the head as a heatsink and that can be removed

Looks like a nice one for modding i.m.o.
LED and driver are probably crap, and perhaps the shelf (between driver and reflector) is thin or has a hole in it, but the body is full aluminium.
It’s on my wishlist for some time now, but i have many more projects to finish, so i haven’t bought it (yet).
But it’s definitely ‘budget’. 
almost no heatsinking in it wasted money
a cheap 18650 Ultrafire or so is way better
