It’s really a matter of personal preference, and different people see color differently, I’ve even read that age is a factor but I’m not sure how true that is.
The brightness difference is minimal, NW has better color rendering; go outside and beam a CW light into some green trees, shrubbery or other green vegetation, then shine a NW at the same objects, you’ll immediately see the difference and what I mean.
Additionally, here’s some reasons why NW is best for a thrower.
To me, a CW hot spot washes out the object in the distance in a blur of overly white hue, with NW now I can see the details of a distant object better, as it isn’t washed out.
