I have a couple of Thrunite lights and used to consider them one of the better midrange brands. Now it seems like they have abandoned the enthusiast market completely.
There is no TN42 or TN40S successor
There is no TC20 series successor
Their website shows all 21700 lights are “sold out” which basically means discontinued
The long-running TN12 series is on V6, and the specs for that withhold the model of emitter used, it simply says “High Performance LED”
Anyone else been following them more closely? Maybe I’m missing something.
For more than a year there is no ThruNite anymore, at least not in Europe and UK. They closed their Amazon stores, don’t respond to emails anymore, went completely silent.
Oh wow, that would explain it. Their site is still up in the US and some lights are still available but the selection is very poor.
I stopped following them a while back when many of their new models started being cool-white only with quick turbo step-downs and angry-looking bezels. I was checking in again hoping they came to their senses.
I’d be curious to know what part of their business model led to their demise. My instinct is that they didn’t pick a lane but I could be wrong. (They were not enthusiast enough for us, and not mainstream enough for everyone else)
Weird. I’m on their email list and just received one on Feb 6 for a new release TT20. I have a bunch of Ti3 v2’s, and fortunately snagged a TC20 PRO (XHP 70.3) before they discontinued it. It’s a fantastic light, great emitter, and runs forever. I like the simple UI and it has a decently subdued moonlight mode for a light in that size/platform. Only negative is the lack of electronic lock-out. I was always tempted to expand my sampling of Thrunite, but I have more lights than I know what to do with now, and there really isn’t much more unique in their lineup that intrigues me.
Hopefully it’s just a lull.
If it is just a lull, they need to fire whoever manages their site. All those products being “sold out” forever is having the opposite effect that they probably intended initially. The place looks like a ghost town.
https://thrunite.com lists everything as “sold out” for me and https://thrunite.shop appears to ship in many countries in the EU. But for some reason I don’t trust it.
I lost interest in Thrunite when they discontinued the TH20 AA , headlamp . I don’t like many of the changes they have made over the last several years.
As an avid Catapult V3 fan, I certainly would love to see Thrunite make bigger lights again. But yeah, it certainly doesn’t look like that’s going to happen…
Thrunite probably sold more atactical and wowtac lights than the main label. But at a lower price. There are many more competitors now. Even though many of them are unknown brands to the average person buying them. It is really difficult at this point to keep coming up with lights that are substantially better in some way then their previous models and other options out there. My current favorite lights are not new models. They have just slightly newer LEDs in them.
So I’m not surprised that some name brands may be selling fewer lights.
The XHP 70.3 Hi was such an improvement to throw and tint-shift. Seems like basically every company with a 70.2 light released a new version with the 70.3. Honestly that was probably a good move. Love the 70.3 Hi
