The Thrunite TH20 Pro is a new Thrunite’s 14500 sized headlamp. The TH20 Pro has an emitter in cool white, which is rated for 1000 lumens on turbo. The beam profile is very smooth with a large hotspot thanks to the TIR optic. The hotspot is very defined with a little spill. Included in the package is a 920 mah 14500 battery, USB-C cable, headband strap, and spare o-rings. This light is very similar to the Thrunite H01 which used a 16340 battery with less mah and output.
There is no external charging found on the TH20 Pro. The charging port is part of the battery which you have to take out and plug into via USB. The 14500 battery can also be charged in an external charger. There is no battery level indicator light found on the light so there is no way to determine how much battery you have left while using the light. The design of the light is very simple with horizontal knurling found on the body and vertical knurling on the tail cap. The tail cap does not unscrew for access to the battery. The battery has to be changed by unscrewing the head. The included headband has a silicone holder and only one strap that goes around the head. Since the light is very lightweight, there is no top strap of the headband.
UI is straightforward Thrunite. A single press turns the light onto the last memorized mode. A long press from off is moonlight, a hold while on cycles through low, med, high, and a double click activates turbo. However if you are in moonlight mode and do another long press, you cannot proceed from moonlight mode into the regular modes. You have to turn the light back off and then single click. The Low mode rated for 46 lumens with a runtime of 16 hours. Medium mode is rated for 120 lumens for 7 hours. High mode is rated at 406 lumens for 283 minutes. This headlamp is compact, simple, and gives enough light with great runtimes for its size.
Things I like:
- Compact and lightweight headlamp
- 14500 battery with built in charging
Things I don’t like:
- Cannot cycle from moonlight to regular mode
- Low mode is too bright
