ThruNite TN12 705lumens Cree XM-L U2 LED Flashlight $39.99!

And that’s including shipping on their website.

Besides having been launched in 2011 which is old by LED standards, where’s the catch?

This one:

It looks like it only gets the 705 lumens on 2xCR123A batteries? It doesn’t say 2x16340s, so I’m not sure if it’ll take them.

Edit: An older review:

says that 2x16340 is ok, but not sure about this one exactly. Anyone know? Is 2x16340 ok with this light?

looks like a good light at a good price now. Selfbuilt did a good review of it:

I picked one of these up at the $39 promotion price. It’s quite a handy size - small & bright. Shame that the twisty mode change includes strobe, so if you want to change, there’s no getting away from it. It has memory, though, so I tend to keep it on high mode, and don’t bother changing mode.

But mine has contact issues with battery change. Nonetheless I love this light - for its light weight, and adequacy of lighting. At $36 it is a good deal - for reliability, branding and quality. Imho, any branded light with reasonable price (under $40) preferred is worth the money. Actually I am tempted to buy one.
