ThruNite TN30 XM-L2 U2 adopted OP reflector than SMO

I got news from ThruNite, they have improved the TN30 XM-L2, adopt the lossless orange-peel reflector, raise the diffuse and specular for lighting,

Go their ebay store to get more information: thrunite_store

Must… resist…

Damn, I only bought my TN30 XM-L2 like a month ago. Would the OP reflector be something which I could install directly into mine???

Must… strongly…. resist…

Most likely yes. Did you buy a TN31 or a TN30? A TN31 has only one emitter.

It would be nice to get this, since it has a ton of throw. From selfbuilt’s review his 1st gen TN30 has 49kcd. I’m going to guess that the 2nd gen has closer to 60k.
And with 3300 lumens that is a really great balance.

Someone please tell me why I shouldn’t get one. :weary:

have they fixed the flickering issues/contact issues with the battery carrier?

Yep sorry it’s the TN30 I made a typo, using my phone! I have a TN31 as well but would be interested in the OP reflector for my TN30. I emailed Thrunite just now to see if I can get the reflector on its own.

I haven’t had any of those issues with either my TN30 or TN31 which are both XM-L2 versions.

I know saabluster (OSTS) does a bit of trickery on the carrier of the TN31 as part of his upgrade but I haven't had any issues with flickering on my stock TN31 first generation.

Let me know if you are able to get one (pm me), because my TN31 has a few dust particles which irk me.

When’s the King getting XM-L2’s?

Here you go.

Oh nice, thanks!
It seems to have the same amount of lumens as my current black SRK though, that’s supposed to be 2500 lumens

The XML SRK doesn’t output 2500 lumens. It’s closer to 2200 lumens.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the XML2 had more than 2500 lumens though, probably closer to 2700. Since the XML2 is 20% more efficient than the XML, (2600*1.2) it would theoretically give us 2640 lumens. Not much of a perceivable gain, but a gain nonetheless.

The King can’t hang with the TN30. I love the SRK… But the TN30 is a whole other level of flashlight.

Meh, not XML2-U2, i guess XML2-T6 offer noreal benefits over XML-U2…

Any heat issues with the TN30 Dale? I know that SRKs become untouchable after 10 minutes, is the TN30 similar? It has a third more output, but it also has more body mass and surface area.

No heat issue @ all.

I have the first generation 31 & second generation 30. If someone wanted two good flashlights without going to the levels we flashaholics do. These two would fit the bill quite nicely without breaking the bank.

The 30 & SRK

The OP's will reduce throw, so this light becomes a more dedicated flooder. Their throw specs of 440 meters is probably close (45-50 kcd), as is their lumens #'s of 3,300, at least their #'s of distance and lumens for the TN31 was very close to reality. Still, 45-50 kcd ain't bad for a flooder with OP reflectors...
