Does anybody else have a TN31 they have got recently that the tailcap won’t come off? I have tried and tried. My user manual clearly states that the tailcap is removeable. But whoever tightened this must have been on steroids or part bionic. I have talked to ThruNite, and I don’t think they understand English. I keep having to explain what I already wrote.
I know I’m not sending this good thrower back. It really doesn’t bother me, but if the switch ever goes bad I told them they will pay for it and my shipping since they didn’t send me a perfect light like I ask.
My tailcap was on there really tight. It wasn’t till I sat down and watched the latest batman movie and had three hours to play with it that I got the tailcap off
I contacted them about this and they said it was locktite on. Which I don’t understand why……
Godzilla Himself tightened these things on, I agree.
Mine won’t budge altho I haven’t worked at it.
It’s loctited on yet the instructions say remove tailcap to change batteries? LoL what next (~.•)
Had to edit spell check turned loctited into lectured 
Then they asked me why I wanted to remove it…. I said I wanted check over my light.
I removed it cause I was trying to follow the instructions lol.
I will warn you it flakes out until it is retightned properly. So eat your spinach that day 
The “tail cap” can be removed allowing access to the switch. The aluminum retaining ring helps ensure water resistance for the rubber tailcap and there is an o-ring around it that serves the same purpose:
I haven’t managed to get mine apart but I’m sat at my desk at work and dont think I’m man enough just yet to take it apart.
quick edit. I stuck a screwdriver between some of the lanyard holes and yanked. VERY HARD but it comes apart
Figured it was loctited, the question is, WHY?!? :quest:
mine wasn’t loctited. Just really really secure.
I did get it apart and it is now back together perfectly.
I tried that and I bent the screwdriver…
stronger screwdriver? 
I started to bend a cheap one so put in a better stronger one 
Mine was loctited (blue) on too but was able to break it loose by hand. I think Thrunite thought we should pull the battery carrier out by turning loose the body rather than the tailcap.
May I ask why y’all are sacrificing screwdrivers to this cause?
If it’s just curiosity, that makes total sense to me.
I haven’t heard any reports of faulty TN31 switches but I haven’t been looking.
Operation
Battery Installation
- Screw the tail cap off in counter-clockwise direction.
- Remove the battery carrier.
- Put batteries in battery carrier, with the negative end (flat one) of the battery pointing to the spring.
- Insert the battery carrier back into the body.
- Screw the tail cap back tightly in a clockwise direction.

Well I think Thrunite needs to start applying the words common sense instead of Loctite.
This in my honest opinion was a dumb move on their part. What good is a user manual if you can’t apply it?
Or at least they should tell their manufacturer to lay off the Loctite if they in fact aren’t making the TN31. But ThruNite needs to take control of this problem, and fix it now.
This is just plain dumb.

The text of the manual specifically states to remove the tail cap! LOL…. :bigsmile:
There’s a picture in my manual of putting the battery carrier in, that shows the tail tube taken off the head.
I assumed the text would mirror the images…but…China… 
Mine has a faulty switch. I can't turn the flashlight off with the clicky. Not matter if the switch i on or off the flashlight is always in the standby mode. It will go on by turning the magnetic ring.
I want to look at the tailswitch but that thing won't come off. And I don't want to use excessive force that may damage the host.
