Tips on where to buy teflon wire suitable for modding.

Is 20 awg the best for modding or what should one get?

International sales as I live in Sweden.

I’ve never used them (I buy thousands of feet of PTFE wire for work, finding a few spare inches is never an issue), but others have suggested:

As for size, it all depends on what your working on and how much current you need to move… for 1 amp, 24 is fine. 3 amps, I try to use 22 for very short runs and 20 or 18 for longer ones…

Thx, what is better, higher vs lower strand cable?

More strands, more flexible cable, that I get …

For the purposes of what we all do here, higher strand count (more strands) is going to be better. Teflon wire is NOT very flexible - it’s stiff, so any help you can get in making it less non-flexible is good.

Great thx, just starting out here so all hints are welcome!

Actually switched a 20mm xp-e star for a xm-l in an unused “MXDL” $8 ebay-find the other day, turned it from a laserbeam with no spill to a really nice all-round light!

Glad you’re having fun in this hobby. Just for the record, if you like flexible wire, go for Silicone wire instead of teflon. Silicone is just as heat-resistant, but it’s as flexible as a spaghetti noodle.

hobbyking carries silicone wire for very (VERY) reasonable prices.

Silicone wire 26 wga and 24 wga , or wet noodle. Its pretty awesome stuff. It has a 300 strand
copper core and the silicone skin is will not burn . When you hold it its so soft and flexible it
feels like wet noddles hence the term. Higher end hobby stores and electrical suppliers carry it, Craig
at Illumination Supply has it in stock as well. You can strip the end clean with a finger nail.
Its well worth the cost and makes soldering a bit easier as well. Google the term wet noodle and
you should find a bunch of places that carry it…

I missed this thread, thank you very much, I've been looking for this info and some good wire shop!
