Just doing some web browsing, and discovered ‘19670’ is the “proper” designation of protected 18650 cells.
Interesting.
Never knew that…….
Some call 'em 18700. ;)
I noticed that too. Was just odd to stumble across 19670.
And I’ve never seen it mentioned on here either
I hope I never see it mentioned again. I already tend to get tongue-tied and confused trying to get the numbers correct with all the different cells.
Just call them what they are: 18650 Protected. Those who understand what that implies will know what it means. Those who do not understand need to learn more about LiIon’s (and they probably need the protection circuitry too).

It’s not like the protection circuit and wrapper add 1mm to the diameter though.
+1
Considering they could range from under 65mm to over 70mm, 18650 is OK with me.
I’m manually unsubbing if auto-subscribe works now (it should)… but +1, let’s discuss this no further. That is not an official designation and is worthless.
+2
Settle down people……. It was just an observation. No where did I force anyone to discuss this or use the designation…. :-/

That is not an official designation and is worthless.
Actually its very much an official designation - pretty much unused now, but still an actual thing.
