Please, check this link. I’m about to buy this,
and want to make sure It’s XM-L2.
Thank you!! Carlos.
True
The pictures are of XM-L2. But you can never be 100% sure that’s what you get, until you get it
The biggest/most obvious visual difference between an XM-L and an XM-L2 is the color of the board that the LED emitter is on. If you look at the XM-L, it rests on a green circuit board. If you look at the XM-L2, it rests on a silver/white board. I’m not talking about the 16 or 20mm MPCB, I’m talking about the actual “plate” of the LED itself.
If you look @ the link, the picture shows that the LED emitters are on a silver/white plate, so those are indeed XM-L2’s in that picture.
I’m not sure what the correct terminology is, but it’s probably not plate…maybe substrate?
If you get the one pictured , it's got XML2s in it .
It also has the high centering rings that block some of the light , like a lot of other recent examples of these multi-emitter lights .
Well, I did it. Couldn’t resist a 5% discount, (2.29US) hehe.
Just kidding. I bought it thanks to your guidance.
Which also clarified my doubts about a diving light
I bought from Banggood. They sent me the real thing.
I think most new production lights will have XML2s, since
the price difference at manufacturer’s level should be minimal.
But I didn’t know the difference. I know now.
I’ll post my layman impressions
about this light as soon as I receive it.
Thank you very very much for your input.
Carlos.
Got Skyray King yesterday. XM-L2. As Pictured.
Thank you for your guidance. Carlos.
My impressions as promised.
It’s bright. The brightest I have under 50 bucks.
Wastes a lot of light to the sides though.
Not a super thrower. But good throw.
I still like my SST80 better.
It was picked from a 50-piece lot.
Not brighter, but better throw.
It didn’t cost me 43 bucks retail either.
Good budgetlight. Carlos.
I bought one, can not comment on it’s CREE XM-L2 U2,
(does not have experiences enough :-))
but it is as pictured, bright light and throws a lot of light.
The package arrived quickly (with tracking)
and was well packed in a styrofoam box.
Have now ordered another one.
+1.
Actually looking at the LED die tells you what it is, the XM-L has lines in the die, the XM-L2 doesn’t
By the pictures it’s XM-L2, but what you order might not show up in the mail
its true from the description and Ebay ad,
but judging from the lower feedback of the seller, ( 97.8% ) i would read through the negative feedback to see if anyone recieved somthing “different” than pictured in the ad.
I ordered a light on ebay once that claimed to have a Cree XP-G emitter in it, (and the photos even showed a XP-G ) but when i recieved the light, it had a crappy generic arcwelding-tinted no-name LED in it.
truth or dare?
just push the buy button J)
Hey Warhawk AVG,
Yes it’s XM-L2 ….in the flashlight I received
When I look at the six led’s with a magnifying glass I see no signs of stripes …!!! just flat yellow surface.
It’s like the picture in the ad. and the picture of an XM-L2 picture from the link you are referring to.
It’s all ias advertised and described. 6 pieces of XML-2.
Shipping was fast, with signature, well protected. as Kurt_Norway mentioned.
It’s very bright. Also eats batteries for breakfast.
Needs 3400 mAhs,to maintain 100% brightness for more than a couple of minutes.
And, of course, flattops don’t work. Only I’m used to true throwers.
I can light up the whole block without moving it.
Buy with confidence. The 97%+ reviews are right.
Forgot to mention (age), has no memory mode. Just 3 quick clicks. The strobe comes alive in any mode,
just pressing the button. I’m happy. Will leave excellent feedback in eBay.
