Trustfire TR-3T6 (4AA/1/2/3x18650) -vs- Skyray King (4x18650 Fatty)... BEAMSHOT Shootout?

Does anyone own both of these beasts?... can you compare brightness between the two, Beamshots would be great!! Also please clarify the cell configuration you are using with the Trustfire... since its so flexible.

thanks!!

That flexibility is what makes the TR-3T6 so great! Does anyone know if the SR King will run on a single 18650? The TM11, which it copies, does but I don't recall anyone mentioning if the King will.

I don't see why not, the batteries are placed in parallel in Skyray King. As far as the driver see it, at no load, there is no difference whether there's 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries.

Though when turned on at high, 7.5A will be too much drain to be healthy for a single battery. Not to mention a lot of protected cell will shut off at this level.

You'd really need to use three dummies and an IMR or equivalent cell. The way the body is, the cells hold each other in place. With two lithium cobalt cells you'd be pushing the boundaries of what would be wise - a single cell would be a very bad idea - I very much doubt that any protected cell would permit the sort of current the light draws - in the 9A ballpark.

...note to anyone wanting to try, dummy cells need to be of the non-conducting variety (wood dowel, PVC pipe...etc), as a zero resistance dummy cell would be a dead short across the 1x18650.

I like the King form factor better seems a little more convenient, and it tail stands. With some DIY diffuser ingenuity I think it could easily be used as an area-flood lantern. Unfortunately it lacks a bright but cool-running medium mode (DOH!). I like the TR-3T6, because its roughly ~60% of the price, a little more flexible with its power configuration(s) and I can easily rebuild it should it fail.

What I am hoping is someone out there can post up some beamshots and make my decision a no-brainer one way the other.

ARGH... this is killing me!!! (in a good way)

Hi folks, inspite of the warnings I couldn't resist to see if my SR KING would come to life on one Redilast 3100 with 3 empty slots.

It sure does and HIGH is as bright as ever and LOW is as low too. Hope this helps.
