Is there any way of doing this? Maybe an alternative driver available somewhere? I really hate having to cycle through the strobes.
For five dollars you can get a DRY driver from FancyFlashlights you get 4 modes, low, medium, high and turbo. It works amazingly well and on turbo it’s a lot brighter than it was before. However, the down side is that it’s now a three battery light. It won’t work with two batteries anymore. Well it kinda sorta works if what you want is turbo to be moonlight. (lol)
I was just about to place an order and FancyFlashlights went down…haha
EDIT: Was able to order one now.
I read that the LEDs have to be switch from being wired in parallel to series for the DRY driver? My 3T6 came wired in series, so keep it as-is right?
I left mine as it came. I couldn’t get it apart to see how they were wired and just took a shot at it. I think you should be ok but you might want to ask around. I know mine is a whole other beast now.
As I recall, one of the stock TR-3T6 drivers could be changed from 5 to 3 mode by bridging the two rings on the battery side of the driver board.
I think it was the driver without the vertical daughter-board.
You left the emitters in parallel on a DRY driver? That will not work. Yours must have been series.
You need to have the emitters in series for the DRY driver. I cannot see how it would survive being a direct drive from three cells to three parallel emitters.
I wondered the same as the 3t6 are always in parallel, I guess he has just forgotten how it was
The stock driver is also very good and nicely regulated, I don’t like the 3 cell operation as it feels uncomfortably so I went with the slightly modded stock driver.
