TrustFire Z2 $16.60 @ DX

This is a good price but it does not say it will run on AA Just 14500 ? Is that why it is $16?

It looks like a Z1 with a longer body so it would seem likely that it's using the same driver.

If this is the case then is most likely lithium only.

My z1 took both cr123 or rcr

But that still means lithium only - a CR123 is a 3V lithium cell

My Z1 definitely has a boost driver. It can be driven with an AA cell although it obviously doesn't fit. I suspect the Z2 has the same driver and will handle both types of battery.

at the link:

Voltage Input: 0.8~4.2V
Battery Configuration: 1 x 14500 (not included)
Circuitry: Digital regulated 1200mA

So -- you never want to take a li-ion below 3.5v-- overdischarge makes them unsafe.

And the light will work down to 0.8v.

So -- it'll run with alkaline or NiMH AA.

That's logic.

Yep I see what u mean now ,

They added another interesting headlamp some days ago, the H2-B, and I think DX offers it cheaper than any other shop

Now we have more to choose. Both the Z2 and the H2 are great headlamps. Plus the H2 has ramping mode

I was actually thinking of getting another z1 after selling mine , it was missed and is very useful, this z2 after some thought would be cool being it already has a magnet tail and it’s double more lumens versus a q5 , I ordered one ,will let u know if it does arrive ,lol they aren’t the fastest shippers in town ,lol

Now they got the ultrafire H3 for 30,00$

See this translated review of the Z2 (linked from the DX forum post at bottom of Z2 product page). Does run on AA's.

I wonder why there are no other Z2 reviews, it does seems to be cheaper at the expense of limited mode selection and thus limited battery life choices? The visual appearance is rather simple as well, not as sleek as H2 IMO.

Still, for 16$ I wish someone here bought it and gave thorough review with beamshots, battery life and build quality. And you can remove the head making it flood light, not bad for versatility.
