Turkeys!

Here’s something not normally seen near a major city - wild turkeys. One male escorting four females. Oddly enough they didn’t seem to be bothered much by my presence and I got several photos before they continued on to another yard.

Hahahaha I know what you’ll have for dinner :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I’d prefer to just enjoy the fact they’re in the area. This is the third year seeing the male and this year he has two more females with him. Last fall I saw him with two females but when I grabbed my phone and walked back out they were gone. This time I had my phone in my pocket.

To bad you cant drink em! being wild turkeys and all hahaha!

No, now you are going the wrong way about it, just say “presidential as i am i granted them pardon” lol

Famous Grous also makes a nice drink (bird in same family)

Give them a few more years and they’ll be a nusence. :stuck_out_tongue:

Opens Monday in Michigan. Love Whitetail and Coyote hunting, but hunting Turkey in the wild is a RIOT!!!

Possible if the population increases like the deer in the area but it’s hard to imagine them being more of a nuisance than the rabbits and woodchucks (aka groundhogs) that make growing vegetables a nightmare.

About 15 years ago a few were seen in our city. Made the news, people were excited “did you see the wild Turkey’s on such and such road today?”

Today, there are hundreds of them. They pretty much stay in the heavily wooded areas, and neighborhoods that are heavily wooded. My only problem with them is, I can’t hunt in the city.!!

Ben Franklin was right about making the turkey the national bird.

I haven’t seen any in my city, ring necks, rabbits, coyotes, raccoons, possums and big rats!! Sewer Rats!

I wonder if Key West is still over-run with roosters.

a big group of wild turkeys in the country? can DECIMATE a farm field like no ones business. They are more destructive and greedy eaters than the DEER when they get their numbers up. thick layer of white poop everywhere, stalks tore down, ground all scratched up… you wouldnt believe it if you didnt see it with your own eyes, a big crop of turkeys is like armageddon for a small commercial farm.

if the local numbers got TOO high, and since theres NO hunting in the area? these things would trash backyard gardens and flower beds like demons on acid. People that like to GROW THINGS will P=R=A=Y for an infestation of deer after a season dealing with an infestation of wild turkeys… a bloom of rabbits is a BLESSING as compared to turkeys…

that said? i am amazed by the occasional troop of turkeys that hit my yard on their way through once in a while… i dont garden or anything, so, they arent a problem. When the small herd is big enough? They make enough of a racket to wake me up inside the house on my day off, LMAO.

there have been sightings around here too.near WPAFB especially.
btw a phone with turkey calling videos playing will drive em nuts.had one going crazy at a friends farm.

Scan avatar.

i know they can fly.i nearly hit one in my truck.they seem clumsy in flight.
