As title my UF C8 is stuck in one mode, and today I eagerly took delivery of my xm-l zoomy which apart from the looks is absolute garbage. Oh and to top it off broke something on a customer’s car, not my fault but still broke in my hands so replacing as a goodwill gesture.
Not been a good day!
Wiring is probably not the problem. It would require that the positive lead of the LED was somehow shorted to the positive terminal of the battery. I’m having trouble visualizing how that could occur.
The most common failure is when the oscillator stops working. This is not only the source of the blinky modes but is also used for the PWM used for reduced power modes. The IC that runs the whole mess is the leading candidate, that or the circuit board runs that connect the oscillator capacitor to the IC. I have seen driver circuit boards develop small cracks, especially when slightly longer, protected batteries are tightened into flashlights that don’t have sufficient room.
Either way, Steve_the _Chief has a good nose for the problem.
