I really like the new ultrafire lights for being something new that cannot be had elsewhere for now. Speaking of the T50 and the H6, although they are somekind of clones of zebralights, or at least “inspired” by them, they seem to be of good build quality and are unique in the budget sector… …but here comes my problem: the prices they are demanding are not budget anymore and although we all know that as soon as they pop up on manafont for example they are cheaper there, or can be had cheaper in a group buy (H6) they are still quite expensive for still having PWM.
The recent experiences with the Trustfire mini-01 (aka BLF-Mini) group buy suggests that it is only a small alteration in the driver programming to raise the PWM from 200 to past 1000Hz. So why are there still that much lights with low PWM-frequency?
This light in particular seems to be the little brother of the T50, with its design, the side clickie and the tail-magnet.
I like having the option for AA and cr123, but I am afraid it will have the same bad PWM as the other ones, and even a price drop of about 10$ would not make that up for me. Furthermore I would like to see a lot deeper knurling, maybe steel bezels and I don’t find the design of this one as apealing as the T50, but thats a personal thing.
To sum it all up, I am afraid I am not interested in this group buy, but thank you ultrafire-shop for asking, great service indeed!
To Ultrafire: pleassseee raise the PWM, cut knurling a lot deeper and your flashlights would sell like hotcakes! atleast for me…
I think knurling is personal taste, but I sent them an email about PWM. Maybe the chinese budget factories will take the hint some time in the future..
That might be true… but have you ever had a spark headlamp in your hands? the aggressive knurling feels awesome and pure quality!! Sooo grippy! But it might be even too aggressive for a light that is supposed to slide in and out your pockets easily…
It's a good looking light but I totally agree about the PWM and the shallow knurling. Raising the PWM (ala the group Mini buy) to 1k+ would not cost them a cent and would move their original design products like this and a few other recent lights into high end quality territory. They would dominate the budget flashlight market with one simple programming change and zero additional expense. So puzzling why they don't get it. :~
As for that knurling, it's not only barely useful, it's outright ugly IMO. :Sp
Don’t any of these guys own a decent camera? That’s a sad excuse for an advertisement. The light certainly looks interesting, but I’m sure we’d all like to see more of it.
NightCrawl, thanks for getting us a discount. I just ordered this and plan to reprogram the driver (or swaping in a 105C if it doesn't have one) just like I did with the UF-T50. Turning off and on quick will switch to the next mode while still allowing a press-and-hold for ramping.
I'm assuming the original driver has crap PWM just like the rest of them :( When I modded the T50 I said I would never do it again because it was such a pain (small spaces, short wires, etc.), but it's one of my favorite lights so this one might be worth it.
