So, I had an idea of doing a BLF flashlight share and pass around.
Process
- 5 to 8 people sign up in this thread
- I send 1 of my lights to the first person
- They send their light and my light to the next person
- The next person sends their light and all the lights they received to the next person
- The last person on the list sends lights back to me
- I keep my light, then send on
There have been a few pass arounds on BLF before for specific models but it looks like the idea to do it with a few lights never got anywhere. Flashlight passaround ....what do members think about sending a box of lights to various members to try .?
Suggested details:
- UK only (as that’s where I am. May work better in other countries)
- Tracked and signed UK postage is £5 to £10 (insured too). Each person would have to post things twice at their own cost
- Borrowing lights for a week or maybe just over, so you’re guaranteed a weekend
- 5 to 8 people to start with, to keep it manageable
- Paying for damage and loss would be on an honesty system. Maybe there’s a suitable deposit escrow system or something, not sure. Neither I nor BLF would be responsible for any losses.
- Only open to accounts created before this post, with a reasonable post history
- People could lend more than 1 light
- You’d only share your address with 1 person
- Maybe include cells too
- Ideally a variety of different lights get passed around
End result is you get to try 5 or more flashlights for a week. Costs about £15 and you have to lend out one of your lights for a couple of months.
I’d be willing to kick this off with a BLF Q8, Nightwatch NS53A, Astrolux FT03 or maybe a couple of them.
What do you think? Is this a terrible idea or could it just work? If you’re interested then make it clear in your comment and list what light(s) you’d be willing to lend.
