Ultrafire 26650 series leak.

A workmate wants to check out some throwers for spotting game, so I am going to take in a few lights for him to try out over the weekend.

My Convoy L2 was in the mix, & I hadn't used it for about a month or so. I knew it was ready to go, with charged cells in it.

When I went to switch it on, I got nothing, so switched it off immediately. As I took the tailcap off & shook out the cells, I was overwhelmed by a strong chemical smell, & one of the cells was wet.

I measured the voltage of the cells, & took some pictures. One cell measured 4.05v, the other 0.05v. The cells were bought together as a pair, used in the same light, & charged together. They would have been lucky to have four or five cycles, & have never been over charged/discharged, or otherwise abused.

Rolled the cell on the table;

I wonder what will happen If I connect these wires??

Go for it! :evil:

(but outside and take a distance please)

will be an extreme case of cell reversal.
roll the camera and post the video!

Sorry guys - got all ready outside, with my temp gun, phone for recording video/calling ambulance, & a beer, but it was a fizzer.

Neither batteries or wire heated up at all. :weary:

I may try something a little more vigorous over the weekend.

Can this whole fiasco be the curse of the *Fire

batteries or could these possibly be clones ?
