Sorry for the gramma Nazi-ness, but most people will open this thread expecting a torch comparison.
Since the C8 and the C12 share the same reflector, I think it would come down to whichever style you prefer. Brightness would depend on the driver and emitter that was included; since you already specified U3, then the final brightness would depend on how hard it's driven, and that can vary depending on the light you get.

Ok, I own both. The C12 has a much better heat sink, than the C8
Theoretically, they should emit the same amount of light, however, the manufacturer will drive a C12 harder, because it can take it…
