Does anyone know how to do this?
I have seen that you can buy new circuitboards for the torch, that replace the current one, but it seems silly that it is not possible to modify the current board to have three modes?
Also for the price that the new circuit board is its only £2 more to get a whole drop in unit from fleabay. All of which will takes weeks to turn up.
Those boards habe a small microcontroller (MCU) on them, and the firmware in it controls the modes. Most MCUs are just programmed with a fixed setup, and they can’t be changed easily.
A few drivers use common MCUs, and a few people have knowledge and tools to reprogram them with whatever modes and UI they want.
Also only few drivers (like NANJG105C, KD V2) come with a versatile firmware that can be configured by some solder contacts on the driver board, or use mode groups (like the old NANJG 101).
So unless your driver falls in the latter two categories, the answer is no.
Post a photo of the driver.
Before several months DD did send some p60 flashlight with drivers you could mod (by desoldering one leg of something) from 3 to five modes
Stupidly I didn’t take any photos while I had it apart… I might take it apart again this morning. Tbh if theres no way of doing it by modifying the torch as is, I’m not going to be spending another £5/6 on another part that will take three weeks to arrive from india or wherever and the torch has only cost me £15 including batteries so isn’t worth anymore hassle!
