Umm which of these do you think? Solarforce L2R XP-G (300 lumen) or Shadow Mini

Ok back to the NiMh power flashlights I’ve been looking at. Lots of nice suggestion, but I think overall I like the look of these ideas at present.

What do you guys think would be the better light overall?

Solarforce L2R with Solarforce 0.8-4.2v XP-G drop in (1 mode 300 lumens)

L2R = $15.99
XP-G drop in = $12.99
Shipping = $2.00

TOTAL = $30.98

Do you reckon the Shadow is worth the extra money? It looks nice in the pics, but is it really likely to out perform the Solarforce?

Thanks.

Based on looks alone I`d choose the L2r, its also upgradeable.
Dont care much for the skinny look of the Shadow…

That’s not a L2r, just a l2 with 123 extender.

Looks like it says L2r on the body…

There is no L2r any more. It is just a L2 with extender sold on SFSales so batteries will most likely be wobbling inside.

I have a L2r at home I don’t care for. The sharp edged bezel is a nuisance if you don’t plan to stab people. The light is just too long and thin. The tail switch burnt on mine while trying a new driver and I were unable to swap it without damaging the inner rings in the tailcap.

I have a Shadow TC6 that I like the heft of, but it was lacking in build quality too. The emitter was glueless and body should be screwed in inversely. I don’t know how this 2xAA Shadow is but I guess it is a better piece than an improvised L2r.

I don’t see any extender on this, just a one piece body with L2r on it.

Click on the link, it brings up the L2+extender page. I think the L2r hasn’t been available for a year or so.

I personally like the real l2r quite a bit. The bezel can be swapped out for any standard l2 flat one. Terrific true diamond knurling unlike the other SF lights.

The L2R is a great light, I love mine. I just wish they would bring the L2I back. :D

Well, that stinks. I don’t think they should be calling this current one an “L2r” when it’s just an L2 with an extender. Bring back the original dedicated 2xAA L2r or drop it completely.

Thanks for the info, I hadn’t realised the L2R SF are selling isn’t actually an L2R. Think that rules it out.
