I suddenly have a $200 budget to spend on what I would consider a non-BLF flashlight. I have already ordered a Zebralight sc700D and an Acebeam TK16
I have the FW3A in several flavours and all the Emisars but the D18. Got a few of the latest Astrolux too.
Normally my budget is around $50 and I buy 2nd hand if I can.
So I am after a good quality reliable EDC, 18350, 18650, 26650, 21700, neutral white flashlight, an all rounder, rather than a thrower. I am quite flexible. I do like copper.
I suspect that the Emisar D4s v2 is on the horizon and so will acquire one of those.
I am looking at Reylight (Krystal), and Skylumens, and Olight, and a few others.
Suggestions and recommendations gratefully received.
If you like Zebralights, get a SC600w MkIV HI. It is a very compact modest-thrower, and will compliment your floody SC700d quite well. It’s my favorite outdoor light, when I just want to carry a single light. And if you want a general purpose very small Zebralight, the SC64w HI is great (beam is neither floody nor throwy). Both these are 18650 lights, and they’ll eat up most of your $200 budget. The rest you can spend on batteries.
I’ve just found some lights. Don’t really know much about them though.
Thrunite TT1 super floody beam, 21700, should be able to sustain over 1000 lumen without getting hot.
Klarus XT21X same as above but wider head for more throw plus pocket clip.
What exactly are you looking for. How wide should the head be? Does it need a pocket clip? Does it need to sustain high lumens or need to have a nice tint?
I guess this is more a CPF question rather than BLF, but I don’t like posting there
I’m looking for something a bit unusual. It would need to be pocketable, one cell, max output above 500 lumens, something that would stand out from the usual black HAIII tubes.
I am probably looking more for suggestions of flashlight manufacturers rather than actual flashlights as I am not that knowledgable about the niche producers out there.
I am always wondering why people do buy that, i mean i can imagine you want a high quality, recommended and reliable exclusive A-brand light, but why pay 1000+$ for those ugly lights?
Maybe you like the Reylight Krystal? Thats a nice light, and somewhat ‘unusual’ without a standard black ano.
Dont even think of it as a light. It might as well be a watch, paperweight, hand blown glass, or whatever object. The fact it lights up is secondary to the purpose.
These custom metal tubes selling for $1000+ every day and no one even bothers to ask what LED or driver is in there, cause it simply doesn’t matter they bought it as conversation piece anyways. To each his own.
It sounds like TheAuditor is looking for a middle ground, of which there is not much choice unfortunately.
