I was hoping you may be able to help me, I’ve been reading old threads(by djozz and n10sivern) and posts about the UF—1405 and UF-1406 and decided to purchase a few of each for a project I’m working on.

I’ve received the flashlights but I’m finding it very difficult/impossible to disassemble them. Specifically to unscrew the pill and to unscrew the head from the body.

Along with the aforementioned flashlights I got two UF-1505’s and have successfully uncred the pills from the head but still have not managed to unscrew the body from the head.

I’ve searched all over trying to find someone who may have the answers but have since show up short.

Are there any tricks to disassembling them?

P.S The project involves replacing the LED’s with CREE RGBW XML-2 leds hooked up to a micro controller, mounted in a room to be used as spotlights. They’ll receive data via esp-32 microcontrollers. If anyone is interested in this I’d be happy to share more info :slight_smile:

Pill is reverse threads.

Once you remove that the head will screw all the way off and come down the battery tube.

Curious do the 1405 and 1406 take the same mechanical pill?

Just checked after managing to do the teardown and unfortunately the 1406 pill is slightly larger.

Yep, 1406 is reverse threads on the pill. I also need to modify my sample, to put some LED that will increase throw…
