Watching interactions between members. I got to thinking. Do we as consumers have unrealistic expectations regarding our purchases? Now I’m not talking about lights $100 & up. My opinion… Any light I purchase $30 & under. If it even turns on…. I WIN!!! LOL It amazes me how critical some people are of these foreign business’s. It’s been my experience that these Asian companies wil bend over backwards trying to please their customers. ( There are exceptions ). So much so that some unscrupulous consumers will take advantage. I wouldn’t want to sell some of these folks a stick of gum, let alone a flashlight. Just thinking aloud, feel free to berrate my ideal of being a ambassador & not trying to bully someone just because I can.
Yes, absolutely. Sometimes it just feels too much. It’s budget world, you really can’t have everything absolutely perfect. Perfection costs money, simple.
I agree. When shopping bargain basement budget lights I expect something has to give. If you demand fast shipping, best customer service, top quality products but won’t pay for it, you deserve to be disappointed.

To answer OP…
YES!
Especially some/many have unrealistic expectations…
One thing is to inform other about a bad experience. Another is to post xx posts of negativity against a store even before they have had reasonable time to deal with issues. Or generally overreact due to shipping time (which is often due to HK post or something), price, or the condition of the products bought…
Some also have very high expectations to how the service should be on their 10$ products (including shipping)…
Premium service usually comes with a premium price… And in many cases, even premium products does not come with premium quality or service…

+1 Absolutely! Dale, I was thinking to post the same exact thing! What do people really expect when purchasing budget products from China??? We should expect flaws and jump for joy when we find a diamond in the rough! You want quality products with quality service (both guaranteed), then go elsewhere!

I expect honesty even if it’s for a one dollar purchase and it’s as simple as that. It’s all rather sad when you know in advance that a company isn’t honest. An individual sales person might not know that a single T6 isn’t putting out 1800lm, but the engineers do and so does anyone else involved above the level of salesman or secretary. Same for for a 5,000 mAh 18650. I don’t care that they are selling it for only $2 the fact is that a lie is a lie.
I recently had a problem with WallBuys it wasn’t that it’s been over a month in shipping. It’s that they said that if it went past a certain date that they would send out a replacement. It was only $9.99 and not even one of their special super deals. Just the promotional 2011. See how it works, it’s the lie that bothers me. If they would have said that they really didn’t get it shipped out and that there was a problem I would have said no big deal and waited. But I didn’t expect to be lied to and dismissed.
I might order from them again someday, but it’s going to have to be such a deal that I know they are not making much off of me. I normally wouldn’t even consider it, but the problem is that they almost all lie about one thing or another. Be that shipping time, mAh’s, or Lm’s. We have literally come to expect these lies. Would we put up with the same dishonestly from our local hardware or grocery store? Would a half pound of hamburger or nails be ok when you paid for a pound, just because they were on sale?
On the other hand I will continue to buy from Fast Tech because they have been great and for the most part honest in their descriptions.
I ordered the Wallbuys light last year and they marked it “shipped” on the First of January and it’s still not here. (Who here thinks they actually shipped it on the first?)
Talking to some members outside this venue. I was a bit shocked at some of the stunts other members pull on these companies. Then having the audacity to come in and talk bad about them? Guess it takes all kinds….
+1 . Haha… I was thinking the same thing.
I have sold thousands of items on E-bay, to all over the world, so nothing surprises me. That doesn’t mean that dishonesty should come to be expected from anyone. I still deal with all people as if they are honest, but at the same time I don’t stick my neck out for more than I can afford to lose.
Having read an earlier post of yours, I take it that you didn’t much like the way you were treated recently by a fellow member of this site. So what I am hearing from you is a bit of a double standard.
I would agree with you on sellers that outright lie to you; I don't condone that. I wouldn't expect them to stand behind manufacturers claims of mAh, lumens, current draws, etc. . . nor would I expect them to test every item and try to state "true" specs (it's nice when then do) but so long as they do the best they can (well, at least do a reasonable job) and are being honest I'm ok doing business with them.

please explain the double standard. I deal straight up with people. My word is worth something… I honor it no matter what. The deal I had going was a done deal. The member started trying to amend the deal after the fact. How is expecting someone to honor their word a double standard?
You called a member of this site a POS without explaining what they had done wrong. But you say that people in China should be given a break if they are dishonest because their prices are so cheap. At least that is how it seems to me.
No doubt some buyers are unreasonable, or worse. Unfortunately, a seller cannot appear irrational in its treatment of customers or it suffers anyway.
And as has been written about business practices sometimes the seller is a problem. My direct experience with Chinese sellers is that they fall into those who are better and worse, just like western sellers.
There are bad ethics all around us - and unfortunately many of us don’t recognize them in ourselves (none of us are perfect, so we tend to self-justify, even when the best of us use a fixed ethics standard). Also unfortunate, fewer and fewer people are using a fixed standard for their personal ethics; instead everything is being treated as relative, which makes it easier to self-justify.
You could be right… I afford companies a bit if grace. But when dealing with a member one on one. I expect better. I’ve been done dirty more times by members than I have the Asian business’s
The asian companies being dishonest. I was referring to long delivery times & such.
One of the reasons people buy from Tmart, even though they often cost more, is that most of their items are supposed to be shipping from the US. It would be like paying for 2nd day air and getting parcel post.
+1 didnt know thst…
Fair enough, I expect long shipping times. In fact all I did with Wallbuys was wait four weeks and then I asked them to check and make sure it was sent, they said it was sent on the first and that if “in four days” it hadn’t shown up they would send a replacement. This was their offer and I didn’t suggest anything. Then after five days I asked again and they told me basically to go pound sand and that I could wait like everyone else.
If they were not going to send a replacement they shouldn’t have offered. That is what ticked me off.
I haven’t ran into a issue like that yet. Being that I ordered from them before the holiday. I kinda expected a ling delay.
