"Upgradable" Drivers: Where to find them? If anywhere ...

So, I have some flashlights I would like to change/upgrade in terms of firmware. But I cannot upgrade the firmware since their drivers are not compatible with the Attiny1616 programmer I have (I guess!).

The lights which I want to upgrade are:

  • Lumintop FW3A (1st Batch)
  • Lumintop FW1A (1st or 2nd Batch)
  • Lumintop FWAA (1st Batch)
  • Lumintop FW1AA (1st Batch)
  • Lumintop GT Nano (Narsil)
  • Lumintop Frog (Narsil)

My questions are:

  • (Where) Can I find drivers that can be upgraded when a new FW version is released?
  • Is there any way I can upgrade these drivers’ FW with the programmer I have?
  • Is there are any other programmer that I can use to do it?

Any help on this is appreciated!!
Thank you in advance! :beers:

If you have crocodile clamp for Attiny85, yes

Hum, can you please tell me what is it ?
I am not savy in these matters :frowning:

Also would that be enough to upgrade all the drivers/lights I mentioned above, or only some of them?

Thanks in advance!!

EDIT: not sure if it matters, but what I have is this:

Ok you have a pogo for 3 pin for ATtiny1616

Asap I give you a picture of what I have for upgrading various flashlights.
Give me some time to organise my technical staff😌

Edit:
For Attiny85 you need the crocodile clamp you see and you have to connect to the Hank board in the left.
For Attiny1616 you have the pogo and it’s similar to mine pogo right
For Hank flashlights with Attiny 1634 (and some Attiny 85)you need the board and the pin adapter 4+6 you see near the other adapter.
For particular situations you mix all this staff and maybe you solve the problem :relieved:

you need an USBASP and a SOIC clip (the crocodile clamp @Light_Veteran is talking about)

Thank you very much @Light_Veteran and @thefreeman for your replies and for showing the tools for each thing!
I will have to buy those, since I don’t have any of those tools.

I’ll get Hank’s board and will get the other stuff from other places.

Is there any “technical” recommendation about the tools that I need to know before buying?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!!!

Not particularly but keep in mind:

  • Not all the usbC cable are the same so for T1616 (3 Pin) if firmware installation do not work maybe it’s the cable.
  • Be patient with ZFlasher if you use an Android phone for upgrade driver. There are 2 usb protocol to follow
  • Buy a set of Dupont wires Male to Female, Female to Female, Male to Male for all type of connection.
  • The Hank set is assembled and ready to go for all his flashlight (you need only the UsbA adapter for MIcro
Usb or UsbC for your smartphone)

For the rest ask without problem

That is very helpful information, thank you very much @Light_Veteran
I normally use AVRDUDESS in my PC, so I won’t be using Android to flash the FW, but thanks for the information.

I guess some of the things you mentioned and showed, I can buy in local stores, others I may need to order from abroad. Hank’s board is on the list already.

And… I will surely need some more information when the tools arrive so that I don’t mess up while flashing the FW in the different drivers. I’d hate losing them because of my ignorance

Thank you very much once again for your notes and recommendations

You are welcome.
I do with Android because it’s fast and I can do everywhere.

I just find GUIs slow and clunky to use, I always use normal CLI avrdude.
