This video does a really job what’s been happening in a bunch of US states by an overreaching government. The roll of the dice is either protect the children or public safety. This time they are using “gun safety” as an excuse but it comes at the cost of trampling over our rights to use tools in our homes. The government wants watch and grant permission as to what we make in our own homes, what we can download and what software we can use.

Yeh, I was gonna point out the Rossman video if you missed it.
How hard would it be to split a program into separate parts?
Want to machine an ‘F’ shaped part, grind off just enough to make an ‘E’ in the first program, ignoring that tab on the bottom.
Second program knows nothing of that part, but only lopping off a bottom piece of whatever, which coinkydinkly turns that ‘E’ into an ‘F’.
Compartmentalisation. Need to know. Works great for programs, too.

It does feel like these bills are targeting exactly the unintended people.
If someone intends to manufacture F, they probably also know enough about F to have the skills to compartmentalize as described above or find some other way to circumvent the ban.
The people for whom the ban is effective–those who know enough about F to manufacture one without the ban but don’t have the skill to compartmentalize–are likely in the extreme minority, if not nonexistent.
1792: Privacy is a basic human right.
2026: Privacy is illegal.
