flashlight mount | Here is my home made flashlight mount. Th… | Flickr Don’t buy it or any of the other lights like the Coleman the Dorcy that are made by the same Chinese company. The problem is only Vivitar rechargable batteries fit in it and unlike the 4 cell model the front can’t be unscrewed so you can push stuck batteries through. The light draws .2 amp on low and .93 amp with 3 cells or 1.03 amp with 6 cells. I will use this light until the batteries no longer charge and then throw it away. This light is 60 percent more efficient than the Black Diamond head lamp I have which cost quite a bit more. So I expect it will be cost effective to throw it away a year from now and buy something that will take high capacity batteries.
Don’t throw it away, mod it. You might get the head off if you heat it, sounds like it’s glued on. Or give it away. There aren’t too many decent hosts for multi AA cells.
If that mount is too wobbly you might try something like this.

PVC tube can be shaped easily after heating it to ~80°C, if you wrap the light in (camo) tape you’ll get a very tight fit.

I’m kinda getting away from the multicell lights myself. Seems with six batteries there can be problems keeping them balanced at same power level. Love aa but think I’ll go more with 1 and 2 cell lights.
