USB rechargeable flashlight for elderly grandmother, Take 2

Hello lovely blfers again,

a while ago I started a thread about this topic before I bought any torch for her. Now, after getting her a Convoy BD06 and a Convoy S9, I’m wiser. She sadly is not able to stick the charging adapter onto the BD06 (honestly, I had troubles too sometimes) and she does not manage to plug in a Micro USB either.

So what I’m hoping to find now is suggestions for magnetic charging or torches that come with a cradle. (or basically anything that is super smooth and easy to attach, …no fumbling, no strength needed)
I guess there won’t be a lot of cheap options, so don’t be too concerned about the price in your recommendations.

Oh and I forgot, quite important as well, she needs something reaaally simple operation-wise. I might need to start a new thread, because I never stumbled across a single mode ~50% brightness driver.
(Why is there no driver like that - would be super useful for really non tech savvy, old users. Maybe even with a hidden (long-press, double-click or something) 100% boost.)

Hum, I remember brands, not necessarily models, that have magnetic charginhg : Klarus, Olight, Rofis !
They are not so “friendly” as the Convoy, but take a look at those!

BTW, I assume that the BD01 amd BD03 models will not fill the requirements, as the BD06 didn’t. But, take a look at it too

In my experience with elderly people, it’s best not to try to introduce them to any new tech. If they didn’t use something 10 or 20 years ago, don’t buy it for them now. It will just be frustrating for them and you.

I wouldn’t bother with anything rechargeable. Get her some disposable lights, or a cheap simple light that takes alkalines. On/off switch should be the only function.

I went through this search several years ago and have two thoughts. I have an Olight S15R (no longer made) with the magnetic charging base and it’s pretty simple. The base can be left plugged in to a micro USB, and the flashlight is put on the base any time it needs to be charged. However, I finally settled on the following 3 X AA Dorcy flashlight for her

She couldn’t find a small black flashlight in the dark. This light is yellow and easier to see in dim light.

It plugs directly into a wall outlet. My aunt is around 80 years old and she uses it all the time.
