I went through this search several years ago and have two thoughts. I have an Olight S15R (no longer made) with the magnetic charging base and it’s pretty simple. The base can be left plugged in to a micro USB, and the flashlight is put on the base any time it needs to be charged. However, I finally settled on the following 3 X AA Dorcy flashlight for her

for the following reasons:

She had problems gripping a small diameter light. This light has a larger diameter black rubber grip.
She couldn’t find a small black flashlight in the dark. This light is yellow and easier to see in dim light.
Simple operation. One mode, big on/off button, 55 lumens, 8 hour run time.
Easy to find AA batteries. Keep a pack of 12 in the fridge and she has 5 nights of use leaving the light on all night.
