Using a driver with a higher out voltage

What would happen if I used a 6V output LED driver such as this: 3.87€ 13% OFF|Cree XLamp XHP70 XHP70.2 6V Led treiber 26MM Eingang DC6V 15V Ausgang 6V 4500mA Für XHP70 XHP70.2 LED taschenlampe Lampe Birne|Lichttransformatoren| - AliExpress on an LED such as a XML T6 which is expecting 2.9V-3-5V?

My understanding is that because the driver is current limited; the LED will be fine at 6V so long as it can handle the driver’s max current. Is that correct?

That driver does not say that it’s current-regulated. It’s very likely generating levels using PWM. It wouldn’t matter either way, as running 6V through a 3V diode will burn it out instantly.

So I guess it’s likely that most of the LED drivers on Aliexpress are not really constant current drivers?
