using a KD C8 without a reflector

Anyone else doing this? I love the floody beam. But the lens rattles around. The reflector stopped it from rattling. Without the reflector, is the rubber O ring supposed to keep the lens flush to the end of the bezel? If so, guess my O ring has lost its usefulness. Would a smaller , tighter, O ring, really keep it in place? Any other way? Frustrated. Guess I could try some diffuser material instead of removing the reflector. They have some good stuff over at that ‘other’ Forum.

Gotta be a die hard flood beam guy to use it like this :exmark:

I have a 3D LED Maglite without a reflector for close-up illumination . I don't like the stock beam at all .

My favorite diffuser is DC-Fix , I recently put some on a headlamp I got on a super cheap deal I was alerted to here on the forum . The headlamp came with a screaming hotspot . Too much glare . The DC-Fix turned it into a perfect close-up beam . ( There isn't much lumen loss , according to lightbox tests , but because the hotspot is so spread out , it does appear to dim the light a little . )

Yea, DC-Fix is the one I was referring to. Highly recommended, and cheap, and not much lumen loss they say.

Speaking of Maglites. I have a (3) D cell light, hardly puts out anything. I saw on E-Bay a guy who was selling an XM-L emitter I think it was, 3 mode, and 700 lumen. It was for my Maglite ………… for $80! No thanks.

thanks for your post
