Viseri VZ230 (tank007 TK737) lens question.

I picked up a Viseri VZ230 a little while back, and I really like it (other than the fact it’s pretty much impossible to mod without destroying it).

Anyway, I’m not crazy about the lens. After using LED’s for a while now, I can’t stand ringing and the artifacts. I put some matte Scotch tape on the bottom side, and it really smoothed out the beam; unfortunately it also cut the light output dramatically. My next experiment was to lightly mist some clear packing tape with Testor’s Dullcote. Again, it made a nice beam and again, it cut the light output too much.

So…

1. Is there a replacement lense available that will smooth out the beam without seriously cutting light output?

2. Is there a good method for modifying the original lense to accomplish this?

For future reference…

Wet-sanding the inner, slightly concave surface with 800-1000 grit and the outer flat ring with 400-600 grit seems to work pretty well. Really smooths out the beam, and the drop in intensity isn’t too bad.
