These things are not only brighter than my KE-5, they throw a heck of a lot further and have one of THE most beautiful beams I’ve seen in any light. There were slight tint variations, one with more yellow than the other, but not real difference in output. We’re not talking pencil beams either. They will send out a fat, bright beam with serious flood that will light up a lot. No PWM either.
But…
How do I get them to change mode groups? I’ve tried twisting the head and it does nothing. I’ve tried holding down the tailcap button. No change. One is 5-mode and the other 3-mode. I can’t find a way to change mode groups on either. Any help?
They're using this driver, if you want to save the link/copy the specs for documentation: http://www.fasttech.com/products/1186301
Those are the crappiest 105C drivers I know of, though they are the cheapest and work nice for reflashing with decent firmware. It's been shown they don't run at 100% on high, but something like 98% with some icky PWM spikes for some unaccountable reason. Lower modes occasionally give some PWM whine as well. New FW makes all that go away.
Now that I got the modes thing down (and the fact that you have to leave the light on for about 8 seconds for it to remember that mode), I love them. They are stable and very bright. As for PWM, I can’t tell. Or if I put them to a fan, I don’t notice ANY PWM, but my eyes sometimes seem to. Funny.
I have this very same XinTD C8 from Wallbuys. I keep it on the Hi-Med-Lo mode group, and there is no PWM or whine. I am getting a rock solid 3.03A tail reading. The out the front beam profile is immaculate, and that supersedes any nonsense statistics.
