Wand style diffuser using caps from dollar store for Nitenumen NE01 and Convoy C8

Many wand style flashlight diffusers are ridiculously priced at about $5 for a cheap piece of plastic. Being the cheapskate that I am (and this is BUDGETLightForum, right?), I spent some time at my local dollar store (Dollar Tree), and found the following substitute.

Made of soft plastic so it won’t scratch the light, it is a perfect fit for my Nitenumen NE01, and possibly similar offerings by Nitecore, Soonfire, LuminTop and others. It has just the right amount of tension to stay put and not fall off.

For $1 plus tax, it sure beats a $5 piece of plastic that takes 3 weeks to arrive. If ever. Oh and the mousse that comes with it is a nice bonus

That’s great! Will it hold up to the heat and energy coming from the emitter?

Love it, simply love it.

This is why BLF is a great place to hang out.

I’ll never look at a plastic cap the old way again!

I have one of these, it is made out of flexible silicone and works great! they are $2.95 at batteryjunction.com

I didn’t do any torture/stress test, but so far, just my brief use of all different modes, it has remained cool.

Thanks for the info. That’s a more reasonable price. I’ll keep in mind for when I can’t find anything at the dollar store for my other lights.

Here’s another match up, this time for the Convoy C8. It is a more precarious fit; will probably fall off with a moderately hard knock, but it works.

I spent some time finding the perfect cap from a lip balm tube to fit on my Fenix LD01 to use as a diffuser. However, when I was backpacking and needed it, I discovered that it wouldn’t stay on when everything got heated up.

That’s unfortunate. I’ll report back if something similar happens with my two contraptions here.
