I think it was last month. Walmart was selling it for $45.00.
You have to monitor the price changes on Amazon. The lowest I’ve seen it drop on Amazon was about $60.00
I’ve been using a single Tribit Maxsound for a few years, but until the Plus upgrade it couldn’t be paired with another unit. The recommendation by pennzy above is a good one.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of Oluv, from Oluvs Gadgets on YouTube, but he is the audiophile equivalent of us flashaholics. He hates the like of Bose ripping us off with mediocre speakers at high prices and got together with Earfun to produce his own tuned version. There is an early bird coupon if you sub up, I think it is still open.
Thanks. How’s the sound regulation from the source? One of the things that annoys me is the variation in volume from source videos/ tracks on my current unit. I know it’s probably dependent on upload recording quality, but you’d think the output device would compensate to some extent. Maybe it’s wholly dependant on source baselines???
The variation in volume between audio or video contained from different sources originates with the various sources, in my experience. When I have noticed variation in the volume from one track to another I have been able to see the difference when viewed on a graphical display. Yes, quite annoying but not the fault of the output device.
The Fugoo I have has simply worked well. I use one in the shop and move it around as necessary. It gets very dusty with wood dust at times as cleans up nicely. The inside “works” can be easily slid out of the cover and the cover washed. I haven’t used it as much as I used to in the last few months because my new hearing aids have Bluetooth connections for all audio including phone calls, etc. I love them a great deal too, but wish I had worn hearing protection starting 40 years ago or longer.
MtnDon, much obliged for the explanation. I’m no spring chicken either, and Tinnitus is getting rather bothersome. I’d like to think I could avoid hearing assistance down the road, but it’s likely inevitable. Still enjoy good guitar licks, and a nice portable speaker setup is key. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Ultimate Ears Boom 3 is ok if you get em on special… still uses micro USB to charge which is a tad tedious in the world of USB-C but good output and bass for the size. Waterproof and fairly tough as well.
+1 for Ultimate Ears. They always rank high on best of lists. I went with Sony, back when they had the X33, 55, etc. They have a great sound but they don’t make them now.
My wife and I have a couple of Bose products… I know price. But, the best sounding and most portable to date has been the Sound Dock Mini. I fills my shop with some of the best sound and has great battery life. I suspect it would now be cheap on places like ebay.
