I received the one unit I ordered, and glad I ordered only one and not the two I signed up for. Clearly, it's not a JAX Z1 host, as claimed in the OP. I have a JAX Z1 and compared them:
- they don't LEGO - threaded different, the Z1 tube extension won't go on fully - incompatible threading it looks like
- slight style changes
- slight dimensional changes
- worse part is the zooming threads. The Z1 is smooth - you feel the quality. The Cometa is budget slop zoom threading - loose, grindy feel, at least in my one piece
I don't see it mentioned in the OP, but might have been mentioned here earlier. It seems like a different manufacturer - probably sub-contracted out to build a copy-cat. I really didn't care much bout the spring and LED wire soldering problems - all easily fixable for me, but I probably can't get this Cometa to anywhere near the quality of the zoom operation of the Z1, and not happy about the incompatibility of parts and extension tubes. As a host, it's a true downgrade from the Z1. Might have to try thick grease on the zooming threads - maybe that would help some.
I never would have thought they would have made so many changes in the pill area - the deep set driver is a killer for the ground out problem of the battery, and the re-design on top for the blacked out LED retainer piece is radically different, and again causes issues. Funny because the pill itself is basically the same size and shape - very hefty too.
The tail springs are too soft and too deep set as well.
