Where to buy wavien rlt collars now?.
Please tell anyone. Or which flashlights in the market have these rlt collars ao we can buy flashlight for collars…
Need it badly for completing my flashlight project like optofire which enderman bulit.

The patent holders are not doing much of anyting with it.

It will be great once the patent expires because we will see start to see some innovation instead of idle hands hovering over technology.

Prime example how/why the patent system should be revamped.

Shiite like this stifles creativity, rather than rewards it. Patent trolls sit on patents and keep ideas and products off the market, vs allowing products using the idea onto the market.

There should be some minimum “use it or lose it” test which determines whether a patent should be held or voided.

Well, it is still possible to make them, if you come to an agreement with a patent holder, for royalties, for all we know he may no longer be with us, hence nothing happening, has anyone reached out to the owner of the patent with intention of manufacturing it?

You can make them for personal use. As a matter of fact im hoping to start some tomorrow to fit some Z1s i have for christmas gifts.

I dont belive anyone on the market is currently making or selling them.

As i understand it the original patent holder is well out of the picture. The original was bought by meadowstar, which now looks to be defunct, and is held now by a different company.

I dont know how ones goes about requesting use of patented tech. I cannot imagine that someone selling them for flashlights would not affect their sales, but my guess the lawyers time isnt even worth it to grant someone the ability to use the patent.

Will stainless steel work if polished like mirror?.

It would work but aluminum is more efficient, much higher % of reflected light

SS is not gonna work, neither will nickel or chrome, i mean it will reflect some, but not much, aluminum is the best, you may actually get better results with flat white paint than SS. we used to paint old worn out tail light reflectors white, looked much better than with so called chrome paint.
Try Maglite reflector upside down, experiment the position and portion where it works best, also some plastic ball Christmas tree decoration are made of plastic and shiny on the inside, they are prefect sphere, and easy to trim, you can even try that chrome spray paint, it may work for you. paints probably improved since i tried it on tail lights, plenty of spheres around, ping pong balls, and many others.

I have another crazy idea, use small blue laser to hit the led dome with it

Legally, no. Yeah, really, the patent system is so broken.
In practice, yes, you can. Wavien haven’t sued anyone who showed off their DIY collars yet.

Recently trying with parabolic old vintage reflector after some cutting… making a sweet spot but not as sharp as wavien collar do. Will tell after proper lux test.

I have no idea really, but this company sells them they also make a flashlight with them in? is this what you guys are talking about?

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I still don’t believe that anyone wanted to invest a few dollars and make a small batch of aluminum necklaces, as if it were a flashlight reflector.

I still have doubts about its real performance, since many people tend to inflate their results. But I guess it should work after doing simulations.

So I have already asked my contact in Shenzhen to produce a dozen samples with different apertures and I am going to test whether or not it is worth applying them to the sbt90 led clones, or even to the yinding 5050, in the case of the Osram does not make much sense because the emission area is so small that a precollimator lens gives very good results for a light for practical use.
But the sbt90 clone and the yinding 5050 are worth the test because it is virtually impossible with medium optics and standard focal lengths to achieve good intensity levels.
In a couple of days I will have them on their way and I hope to receive them in a month.

If they work (my version is small, just 20mm external) in the b158 modules as I hope, I will have news for you. At first glance they looked just as you would expect them to.

The real big doubt I have is because no Chinese company has applied them to any model. My concern is that this type of technology would only work with the older LEDs with large emission areas, and not with the more modern ones that have much smaller emission areas.

Or the other reason could be that the very precise alignment they require rules it out for any low-cost flashlight production process.

I have always doubted this claim. The LED surface is a fairly large, especially with an LED like SBT90 or the Chinese round die LEDs. I don’t believe the light recycling effect requires ultra precise ground glass optics, or ultra precise focus. But maybe I am wrong about that.

actually all plastic lens from china have super quality, specially the frenel kind. May be 10 or 12 years before to found a good lens not was so easy ( i am collecting samples since that times and not all was well designed or produced)

I run a lot of simulations in ray optics simulator ( combinating several kinds of lens) and the only option that worked to increase the intensity were the inverted half sphere, then the theory is the system should work. But i believe the kety is to use the leds over his rated by factory current. If you have a led for 10w and push in 30w ( like do the most of brand flashlights in his “turbo” modes) will not exist posibility of to got more creations of photons in the surface of the leds.
But with large leds, and a normal current would work, in theory.

I’m curious too…perhaps Leviatan could reach out to saabluster (creator of the deft-x) for some guidance? That dude was hitting over a million candela with his wavien/aspheric setup. I believe the issue was getting an aspheric that had the proper focal length and appropriate size to properly harness the lumens
