As I have said many times before science fiction writers know things and occasionally let us in on it. The BORG have considerable amounts of fluorine in their bodies. Now I have always been told humans don’t use any fluorine and it is in fact toxic. Now a new study has found out that fluorine is used in DNA repair. Fluorine is also used as a cancer treatment. Makes sense that with all the carcinogens in the environment fluorine will be a common food supplement. I still hold to my original theory that the BORG started out as fast food workers. Fluorine is also used to held prevent tooth decay and bone loss.

Naw. Fluoride creates fluorapatite in bones, which while dense, is also brittle like glass. That’s why oldsters are so happy at gaining bone density, but bust a hip if they sit down too hard.

You need natural hydroxyapatite for good bone formation.

And fluoride treatment against tooth decay, IF it’s effective at all, is only good if used topically like a rinse, certainly not systemically by putting it in drinking water.

That’s like trying to wash your car by putting detergent in the car’s gas tank.

You can get by just fine with zero fluorides. Trace amounts even breathed in and/or absorbed through the skin are all you’d “need”.

Cadillacs and Audis also prevent tooth decay. Richer neighborhoods with more of those cars have better dental care and thus help prevent cavities, vs poorer neighborhoods without high-end cars, and thus without those cars generally have poorer dental care.

Point being, better care and prevention happens in areas with indoor plumbing and municipal water supplies, whose water is almost always dosed with F- compounds, vs those poorer areas with, say, untreated well-water.

Correlation vs causation. You could also say that Xboxes or Iphones prevent tooth decay.

After studying areas that had F- added to their water that was later stopped, dental health remained the same, ie, they didn’t start getting cavities all of a sudden. And that remained unchanged years and even decades later.

Also, bones heal, whereas teeth don’t. Break a bone, and it mends. Blood flow supports healing, and filling in of missing minerals. Cavities don’t fill in, even if you’d chew on fluoride pills and somehow survived.

Enamel can get etched, like after your eat spinach (why it sticks to your teeth, I think from oxalic acid). Swish a mouthful of milk, and the surface remineralises.

But that doesn’t happen on a macroscopic scale.

Same as if you’d crack (not crack off) a tooth. Just like a windshield with a tiny crack in it, it never “heals”. You’d think that by practically bathing your body inside and out with F- compounds, the crack would mend… but it doesn’t.

A lot of “conventional wisdom” is just horseshiite. Remember “heart-healthy” margarine vs “artery-clogging” butter. Those same exact phrases were used for decades to push edible-oils like margarine vs natural fats like butter.

The dose is the poison.

Even if you could get that exact concentration of F- in drinking water, some people are obsessed with hydration and guzzle water throughout the day, whereas others avoid water (and stuff made with water like coffee or tea) as if it were poison.

And it’s still the absolute worst way to get F- to the SURFACE of someone’s teeth. Those few seconds of drinking it as water washes over teeth, vs systemic toxicity throughout the body that lingers forever (eg, fluorapatite in bones).

5-FU is great for treating skin cancer on the surface. It’s a DNA-killer, and when applied topically, kills the cancerous cells without damaging healthy cells deeper in the skin, because it has low absorption. (I learned about 5-FU when my old man had skin cancer ages ago.)

But you’d never get IV infusions of 5-FU that’d circulate through your entire body, because that’d do so much internal damage just to get even a fraction of the dosage needed at the actual site, vs just applying it topically.

Putting F- in drinking water is the absolute worst delivery system you can imagine.

It’s 2026. How are we still arguing about water fluoridation? The answers to that topic have been pretty well-known for like 75 years now.

The same is true of every substance. Literally anything is fatal if you have too much of it, and a lot of things also cause problems if you don’t have any. The trick is to get the right amount.

For this particular substance, the right amount and the most effective method of delivery were answered pretty conclusively in the mid-1900s, and newer data has only reinforced those answers.

Bad cells (cancer) are brought to the attention of the SMUG1 enzyme by the chemo ‘highlighter’ called 5-fluorouracil (5-Fluorouracil | C4H3FN2O2 | CID 3385 - PubChem). It’s readily apparent that fluorine and molecules with it are quite poisonous.
Keep in mind that the key facts you posted are quite beneficially slanted toward the industry that produce the chemicals used in community water fluoridation and organizations who enrich themselves by supporting those industries.
My Bachelors of Science, which was in chemistry and environmental science, provided me with the knowledge of many subjects and one of the decisions I’ve made is to avoid fluorine containing substances entering my body. My teeth are quite healthy without it. I don’t drink chlorinated water, either. Well, it was there until removed by a filter, but I digress.
For the impoverished communities that health authorities claim to be helping and fighting for, disincentivizing and discouragement of consumption of sodas would correct much of the health/dental issues seen in those groups. Sodas contain phosphoric acid which inhibits absorption of calcium as well as leaches minerals from bodily tissues. Highly processed sugars are obviously the cause of obesity in many individuals. Say what you will about caffeine.

One expression I will share is, arrogance and ignorance go hand-in-hand. Demeaning someone for their opinion when you don’t have enough information to do so says more about your ignorance. There’s this, too. Don’t be an @$$

I never claimed to be an expert, but I do have common sense on this subject.
Gemini is just summarizing information that is found on the internet, and it does a better job than I am willing to do for that task.
