Took out some big guns and cruised the neighborhood to see exactly where the lights were on and off .
A few neighbors in the street were somewhat impressed by the Crelant 7g9 , Hd2010, JacobA60 and my Xiaozhi .
Crazy hot evening... with everyone running their a/c to death the transformer probably expoloded :P

Man…good times for sure. Its been a while since our last outage.
But when it does happen, I like to tailstand all the big lights throughout the whole house (2 or 3) and make it look like everythings normal. Then go outside and make the neighbors think I was spared. Why am I so dorky?

Told the neighbor I only have about 6 months , 4 hours a night worth of 18650 batteries.
If it wasn't so late I would have loaned out lights
you got me beat, i would go easy on lighting because without foreknowledge of how long the blackout will last (picture that) i would not want to run out of battery power on my grand total of 2 18650s and 2 26650s
We had a 2 hours black out last night as well. I heard the transformer explode from roughly 2km away.
Just crack open your laptop battery pack Bort and you'll have a few more 18650s.
Have close to 24 x 18650 from laptop harvesting , I wish we had blackouts , so I can play nicely

Doesn’t get really dark here in the summer. Even at new moon it’s bright enough to read if you really want.

After one too many power outages here (gheez, it’s the middle of Dallas, not Afghanistan) I had a 20KW natural gas powered backup generator/automatic transfer switch installed. That cured the blackout problems… only had a couple fairly short ones since.
Since I bought a generator for the house here and for the cabin at camp, the damn power hasn’t gone out since!No fun at all! |(
Yep, I knew that spending 10+ grand on a generator would end the outage problem… one way or another. The generator only powers the guest house/detached garage. It would take over 50kW to do the full house.
I can’t believe how addicted to electrons I have become… life sucks without ’em. Five minutes of no power and I start twitching and drooling…
That does sound like fun! I would be taking outdoor beamshots, since there is so much light pollution here usually.
Wow ! Not surprising, with the wind we had yesterday ! Tree branches all over the road where I am, but no power blackouts.
can i re-spot weld them back in afterwards with no soldering or welding tools?
