Well this IS kinda embarrassing.........

I am notorious for making a u-turn in my street, just to see if I really have closed the garage doors.
And of course, 999 of 1,000 times I did close them. Subconscious, so it did not stick in my memory.
It helps if you accentuate these small acts of rather large importance (like turning off the gas) with imaginary red dots in your daily routine. You still don’t remember doing them, but you know you did, because you did it very explicitely.

Every order I put in a spreadsheet. What, where, when, how much, et cetera. Later I fill in the date I receive it. Until then, that cell is filled with ‘=TODAY()’ so I’ll know how long I already had to wait. It’s easy to say: an order from BG or GB will take about three weeks. For I know for sure that in my case it is 23 days on average.

As for the car: I don’t like to drive. It is like a necessary evil to me. So I certainly will remember why I stepped into my car. Worse is, after having done the deed, to remember where I parked it. Specially in a place where I haven’t been before. For that I use the stone age edition of the Bushnell Backtrack. It will not show me where the nearest bridge is, if I have to cross a river, but at least it shows me the direction to where I parked my car.

Last time i had that kind of feeling was about 2 weeks ago when i received the usual plastic bag whith the white sticker and chinese lettering.

I knew i had some parcels pending but that one didn't feel like it was what i was expecting : too big, too soft, nothing like the usual flashlight, knife or electronic part.

Finding some english part on the label that said something like "pastic raincoat" made me wonder who could have sent me that one as a weird gift or even if i could have ordered that myself.

I was starting to feel really bad when eventualy i saw that the adressee was a neighbour : What a relief !

But i have to admit that i find myself entering an other part of the house/office and not beeing able to remember what i was looking for way too often !

Shopping carts. I go into a big store looking at all sorts of new products that are interesting. I try before wandering off from the cart memorize where I parked it. 10 minutes later I can’t find the cart.

So now I have to stroll around a bunch of aisles pretending that I’m looking for something on a shelf when really I’m trying to find my (insert proper curse word here) cart so I don’t look like a total TOOL.

This could be karma though. As kids we used to fu?k with people by moving their carts when they weren’t by them to like the opposite side of a store. Then we’d laff our assets off watching people go nutz.
