I am in NY and anyone with VZ service did not have a working phone.
I’m in Tennessee and my phone had no service for about an hour.
V innernet, nothing that I noticed.
Imagine it’s phones only.
My older sister lives in North Carolina and works at a hospital.
She had trouble contacting people that have Verizon phone service.
Middle Tennessee, mine was out from about 11:30 am to 8 pm. It was a brick. No service or data, and the satellite messaging (which I haven’t used before so it could have been user error) didn’t connect.
For cause;
I’m betting bad software update and that’s only if it wasn’t dry run attack from the usual suspects 
We may never know. Big and costly IT mess either way.

I’m on the big T so was fine.
I am in Denver CO. I had a minute or so of no service, but it came back up and was solid the rest of the day.
No service most of the day in OK.
Internet was fine here in northern Illinois, I don’t get many phone calls so I can’t comment on their phone service.
First they said 100k people affected, then 1.5m. In reality it was likely 90% of Verizon users.
