The XinTD Light I’ve recently received has current draws of around 130mA, 840mA and 2.8A which corrisponds to around 5, 30 and 100. I bought a ’V2’ 8X 7135, nanjg driver (installed in a N-Light host) from fancyflashlights. Mode one is L,M,H and the other is L,M,H,Strobe, SOS. Current draws are approximately: Low 120mA, Med, 1.4A and High, 2.8A which corrisponds to 5, 50% and 100%.
Personally, I LOVE the 3C colour of the N-Light however, the jump in brightness from low to med is a bit much and increase in brightness from med to high is not enough. The outputs of the XinTD are in my opinion, MUCH better spaced.
I see the V2, 8x7135 drivers from KD have low options of 3-5mA or 50mA. Anyone have experence with these?
Do you have any preferences wrt the % of max outupt for your med and low modes?
Yes, I know preferences may differ according to use so state your use and your preference if necessary.
2-30-100% is a nice compromise in case of three mode light.
I have some lights with the KD 5mA low driver and, even though 5mA is nice “low low”, I would like to have a “normal low” mode too. 50mA is more usable in most cases.
0.2-2-30-100% (four mode) would be near perfect… That’s what the BLF A8 has and it has proven to be a very nice all around light.
I agree with the. Something around 0.2-2-30-100 is an awesome arrangement. I’ve got a D25A2 clicky which has a bothersome mode spacing; the transition from low to medium is too harsh, and the spacing from medium to high is too subtle. Programming moonlight into group two makes this problem even worse.
I prefer two modes over three but if there are three that’s ok.
Obviously high is 100%
For medium I want it to be as close to high as possible but have optimum battery life and heat dissipation. I use my med instead of high to save battery life. A good round number would be 80% but that several factors.
For low, I have no use of the sub lumin modes in a large light. 30 lumins min. Under 80 lumin for sure. So 40-50 lumins is nice for a low.
I just never have any use for a large torch with half a lumin. If I want low lumin, I use my key chain light.
