Uniquefire AA S1. Small, very bright, great tint, clip, tailstand, one mode, AA or 14500. Cheap!
Agreed, I love mine…it’s one of my most used lights for the above reasons plus it’s lightweight, simple and reliable.
This is the very first light I purchased after joining BLF .
Still works great on AA or 14500 .
3 things to perhaps consider:
- If it has mode memory, is a clicky REALLY important when SMALL is important?
- Will the 14500/AA sized light be a mostly backup or mostly primary light?
- Do you want/need 200+ lumen or is 100+ enough?
These questions come from the perspective of where I’m going with EDC (summary below), but maybe they will help you also.
On the first, I agree SMALL is important and so I’d pass on the clicky . . especially if the light is going to come on at the level you want most of the time.
On the 2nd, I’ve decided to carry an AA sized light full time. But an AA/14500 light just isn’t going to have the light of an XML on turbo. And a SMALL 14500 producing watts is likely to get too warm too fast. So I want the AA to have capacity and stamina more than I want it to be a replacement for the XML. To me, that says Eneloop or L91 instead of 14500.
For the 3rd question, AA power suggests focusing on beam selection . . really like the XPG R5 beam in this role. If I decide to pop a 14500 in because the backup will be primary, then I want modes where heat is managed and a beam pattern that benefits in throw results.
Current personal carry plan:
Primary - UF2100 with XML and E1320 driver mod (clip TBD)
Backup 1 - Free Thrunite T10 with side-saddle holster snapped to credit card wallet
Backup 2 - Free fauxton on keys
Day bag - Free UF501b with XML & aspheric
LOL, I’m starting to notice a previously unobserved pattern in my carry light selection.
That is a really nice looking torch!!^^
I’d forget the clicky and go with an Olight I-2. It’s my regular keychain light and is awesome, 3 modes, no blinkies. Uses Eneloops nicely…

There are a couple discrepancies between the written ad copy and the video ad, so an email to the company for clarification might be in order. Still, looks to be pretty cool.
agreed, I may have to impose a ban on clicking links johnnymac posts, its too expensive……
What about the XTAR WK25B ?
I believe BLF member Madecov sells those for under $20 USD.
I was looking for one as well...and as KLowD9x and SashiX mentioned, the eagletac D25a really looks nice.
Although I have to mention that I wasn't going to order one until kreisler posted that pic of the limited edition D25a Ti! (kreisler, I blame you....)
So, just yesterday I received in my hand my pretty little titanium sweetheart, complete with NW xm-l goodness inside. It's only slightly bigger than my (now second) favorite production light, the thrunite T10. Moonlight mode is excellent, the U.I. is really nice, and on a 14500 it'll put out just under 600L otf.
I got it from Lightjunction(.com) for $63.38 shipped using code CPFSAVE12
I was hesitant to get it at first, but after playing with it I have zero regrets.
