What are the actual specs for Folomov Pen L1? Currently listed as same as EDC C1.

Folomov currently lists the outputs and run times of the new Pen L1 using a 10900 battery to be the same as the EDC C1, which uses a 10440 battery.

Are they really the same, or did Folomov poorly execute their cut and paste of the C1 specs to the Pen L1?

Not much benefit to having a light twice the size, if the outputs and run times are identical to a light half the size.

I would expect a light with a battery twice the capacity to have twice the longevity of a light with a battery with half the capacity, if they are using the same LED, driver and UI, which they appear to be.

Just curious. I already have the C2 and the Pen L1 is on order. I don’t have a C1

Am I missing something? I’m no battery expert.

I still have almost a month to wait for the delivery of my Pen L1, which shipped from China yesterday.

I just got the flashlight. The voltage of the 10900 battery upon arrival was 3.665 V which should correspond to about 40% charge. At the initial charge it took 372 mAh, so the full capacity should be around 600 mAh. While the quality of the produced light is nice (and on the yellow side as expected), the build quality is not particularly impressive. The thread on the body for the tailcap is really short, so one must be careful not to drop the battery while removing the tailcap.

The L1 is an acceptable light, but there are many things need to be improved: Switch and battery, the switch is sensitive, and there is no physical lock-out.

Battery, i hope they use more popular battery, 2*aaa is the best, 10900 is pain in the ass to find

I’m hoping that the 10900 battery is actually 2x the capacity of the 10440, as it’s length and your initial measurements would suggest.

If your measurements and calculations are correct, then Folomov’s published runtime and output specs must be wrong for either the EDC C1 or the Pen L1. They can’t be identical, if one has a battery twice the size of the other and all of the other electricals are the same.

Thanks for that link, but it doesn’t clarify whether the L1 actually has a battery with twice the capacity of the C1 or if it just has a non-functional extension added onto the C1 10440 battery to fill the longer tube of the L1.

The official specs on the Folomov website shows that the two have exactly the same runtime and outputs, even though the L1 supposedly has a battery 2x as big. This isn’t possible.

I’ve been told that the specs on the Folomov website are actual measured numbers (which I don’t believe), so that means that the battery capacity of the two must also be the same.

Got mine today, under the battery wrap it says 10840 600mah.
I popped a couple of alkies in it and it worked. No luck with nimh.

Good that it’s 600mAh, that appears to confirm that this battery is about 2x the capacity of the EDC C1 and should either have much longer run times than the C1 or higher outputs.

Drained the battery down to around 2.7volts, then started to charge the 10900 battery using the micro-USB cable. Used EBD-USB+ to monitor and record the charging, yields the following:

Charging current appears to be a stable 0.30A, with a CC/CV curve and ending current of around 0.04A (all the mentioned “currents” are the USB side, may not be the actual battery current, which I don’t have a way of measuring for now)

I have a question, not sure if this is considered a damaged LED for the Pen L1?
