Tonight I bought a bottle of ‘Elijah Craig’. It was recommended by the shop attendant. I should have read the label because it’s bourbon (not really my likes) and smokey (again not my likes). After the first 20ml or so I drove back to the shops to get mixer (I drink whiskey straight unless I find it awful). In the car the after-taste came through, it was so smooth and liquid. It was actually really nice, but the drinking part sucked so I still got the mixer. My preferences tend to be scotch, irish, single malt, single barrel… somewhere within that spectrum.

edit: anyone know how I can re-seal the bottle so I can take it back to Holland (in my suitcase) when I move there?
I got it as a gift, but just wanted to give it a try.
Just checked online, but was pretty shocked at how costly it actually is..
Now I feel stupid I opened it up before moving.

anyone can chime in?

edit 2: I put the original (torn) seal back, and put some scotch tape around, and it feels like it can survive the trip.
