I like it. I checked out some of their other stuff. But it is all a bit too repetitive for my taste. Maybe in small doses.
That’s the nature of it. It’s not quite on the level of “chill cow” or other channels that do background beats but it bridges in that direction. They just do it with aplomb.
For something a little more soulful from a potentially surprising source, check out this piano cover from an underrated NES game with an amazing soundtrack.
Humble Pie – 'I Walk On Gilded Splinters' (live, 1971)
The original lineup of Humble Pie featured the dual guitar attack of founders Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton. It's the distinctive sound that first attracted me to the band, when I heard their live album Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore.
Although I could not find any of the particulars, the video below is from that era. It's a loose jam that occasionally meanders, but which has a great vibe. The tune is by Dr. John.
Here is the version from Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore, the album that was my introduction to Humble Pie. After hearing a track on the radio, Performance became my next album purchase.
I’m guessing that’s based on the original radio series…
I think I prefer the original radio series version more, but I haven’t listened to it in many years.
Yes! For reference, here is the original title sequence. Curiously, it is adapted from “Journey of the Sorcerer” by The Eagles, which in turn was supposedly inspired by the works of Carlos Castaneda.
Nice!
Close To The Edge by Yes. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath up next
Thank you. Good to be here.
Haha, Matallaca…
Interesting take on it.
