The other light is a Tool AA
as seen in another comment in this thread, the E01 starts on low every time, which is exactly what I would want. I may try to find one now, thanks!
I picked up a blue Manker EO2 III but it’s gone up in price. The other colors are available for about what I paid. It is an awesome little light with the 4000k. Super small, excellent build and great UI with the lowest low I own. It IS a right angle light and has the MASSIVE flaw of not having a lanyard hole…but …I’d buy the other colors if they did have lanyard/ keyring holes. JS
Update: I went to do some testing on the Streamlight Nano II today and discovered that I had been somewhat misled either by AI slop and or a print mistake.
I thought the nano was 20 lumens for 20 hours, but its not. Its 20 lumens for ONE hour. My own fault for not noticing this next part. Its a quadruple A not a triple A. So the run time is only one hour. LOL..
The E01 V2 seems great so far (still got more tests to run).
I am still in the market for a single mode AAA light that has battery life of over 15 hours.
Olight i3t, or i3t 2. Kind of big, kind of heavy, not exactly keychain friendly, but can start on low, which has a runtime of over 15 hours by my eneloop testing. If you don’t mind PWM, it migh work for you.
During sales, it’s even cheaper.
Sending you a pm.
Do let us know your results. I have been carrying mine for years and have yet to do run time testing. I put an energizer Ultimate Lithium cell in it all of those years ago and it is still going strong. But, it is usually a backup for a backup, so it really doesn’t get used that much. Meaning I have no clue how long it will run on the lowest setting.
I have one of those sitting in the drawer, as I always found it one of the more difficult twisties to engage.
Yes a nice little light. I like the size and design. It is L-H-M though and the head on mine is a bit too loose. Kind of spoils it for what I want. So, yeah, it sit in the drawer with a dozen other AAA lights…
Does the lumintop EDC01 start in low mode first every time?
Just testing it… It looks it uses mode memory. I turned it off on the highest level and waited 10 minutes. When I turned it back on it was still on the highest level. So I guess it does not default to low every time. I guess I never noticed this before because I always have turned it off in the lowest mode.
Which made me think it was L-H-M in the progression. I guess it could just as well be considered to be H-M-L
Probably one of my most used flashlights is my Streamlight Microstream AAA. It’s small and compact with a decent enough throw for any odd tasks or EDC related stuff. Simple on/off switch, and you don’t have to worry about recharging it or keeping up with a cord. You can find a AAA battery just about anywhere. I love my more complex rechargeable stuff, but for something like taking out the trash or walking the dog, I prefer a more simple light. Also better if I need to let someone else use it. Just a simple on off switch instead of pressing a button X amount of times in a row. I’m sure there are better options, but I have no complaint with this one.
I finished the test on my Fenix E01 V 2.0.
The low mode output was measured at 7 lumens. For reference this about what I get from an incandescent 2 D cell flashlight powered by 2x NIMH batteries.
The Fenix E01 v.20 powered by an Energizer Lithium Primary AAA cell ran for an impressive 37 hours and 6 minutes. The output remained almost perfectly constant (to the eye) for the entire time, then the last few minutes the output declined rapidly and the light powered off.
Is there any PWM?
WOW, that is pretty impressive. No wonder the one that has been on my keychain for years stills works fine on the original Energizer Lithium primary cell that I put in it when new. Yes I like this little light.
warily opens wallet to peek inside
I’ve become somewhat of a tint snob and I absolutely despise the puke green tint of this light, but it’s nice to know if it’s runtime. I’d be interested in seeing the lowest voltage required to start tbe light. I’m think maybe .8 or .9 volts.
Might need a resistor mod and an LED swap for maximum cockroach light status…
I have slowly over time come to prefer 4000K to 5000K High CRI -DUV lights as well. OTH for a keychain light that is seldom used, I can tolerate the beam on this thing. It is seldom used for more that a few seconds to find a keyhole or to locate something on a dark floor. Besides, the one I have is not nearly as ugly as that picture shows it. Also remember it is right next to an incandescent light… which makes it look even worse by contrast. Anyway, it is just a tool, my question for a tool is, will it do what I need from that tool. In this case the answer is yes.
Vastlite i7, 5000K is great, compatible with 10440 and AAA
