What battery for a 200W mod?

I have a friend that says he have a 200W mod, and asked what 18650 battery that he needed? It’s using 3 x 18650 batteries,

Any idea?

Full voltage of 3x protected 18650 cells is 4.2x3 = 12.6V

P=VI -> 200=12.6*I -> I=15A

So…

I’d just recommend he run one of these:

in a perfect world may be, but in reality, 3 18650 cells under 200w load will sag to 3.8, 3,7v almost immediately,

YUP. Hence my recommendation of something with a bit higher CCA rating… :stuck_out_tongue:

i agree with you, but it seems to me 200w load from 3x18650, (my guess form factror of the build dictates amount and size of cells) would be a wow light, the runtime of 3x18650 under 200w load will be few minutes at best. so nothing practical. imo.

i have 200w hotwire, 150w nominal bulb, at 15v, 200w overdriven with 5 cells about 20v, it runs for about 5 min. but the brightest output lasts for no longer than a minute.
