Is this the knife without a lock?

Well, I don´t know about you but I was expecting far less hardness for that price…
(555HBW to be precise, again that is still not a 60HRC knife, if you are after those).
But brittle it was. I took the test intentionally very close from the edge and the back of the blade chipped a piece off.
That was the Sanrenmu I´m talking about.

Well, 555HBW seems to be something around 55 HRC, that’s more acceptable on a blade and a good choice for bushcraft knives if you want to be able to hone it even on a stone. Also for a key knife or a fantasy knife mainly used as a letter opener that’s not bad at all.
I’m not a steel snob and don’t need HRC 60 if it’s not a Japanese kitchen knife.
I don’t have issues on sharpening though, my diamond stones or the diamond file take care of it.

I just wouldn’t sharpen ceramic knives.
There’s no burr created so I would have to check it with a magnifier instead of my fingers, that’s not my thing.

Emerson Patriot

When I got it the previous owner had already sanded the grips down, I smoothed them more and installed this spartan clip (from Pops Custom Clips).

MecArmy is the maker of the tiny ti knife. It’s the EK33. Yes, they make flashlights. They also have several knives and a few EDC Ti components.
Been wanting an S35VN blade for a while, Been looking for a quite small pocket knife for the little tasks, seem to have found it.
I’ll warn ya that they’re proud of it though…
I’ve taken it apart, cleaned it, checked out all the inside details and it’s every bit as well made as any larger folder. Titanium frame lock with a replaceable steel insert that incorporates over-travel stop. Ceramic ball detent in the steel insert. The blade is well machined, finished properly, there doesn’t seem to be any difference in this and my Brous or a Spyderco or Benchmade, it’s just very small. The flipper only works sometimes… the ti framelock is strong and puts enough pressure on the ceramic ball that it creates drag on the blade and slows the opening. There’s not enough blade weight to get forward momentum going. I’m working on it, will probably thin the inside of the lock side of the Ti frame to lessen it’s strength slightly.
Torx screws are #15, very small. Don’t really care for the proprietary style heads on the main pivot but oh well. Little sucker shaves hair off the arm like any good straight edge.
